Hair Care for Relaxed Hair

Even if you are a professional hairdresser, some of the various chemical treatments used to alter the texture of curly or wavy hair can be confusing.  Although I have taken several classes in both chemical relaxing and straightening, I still continue to learn more tips every single day.  When you chemicallly relax your hair i have found that it is very important to take care of your hair..Not everyone will use the same kind of products.  Depending upon your hair type and style, you’ll need to use either a spray leave-in conditioner or a creamy leave-in conditioner. These will just re-inforce the moisture in your hair that will allow you to go through the rest of the week with moisturized hair.   Remember to seal in this moisture with a little bit of serum when you’re styling your hair.

 

for FINE hair i suggest using Redken Smooth Down detangling cream, for a leave-in product use outshine and glass mixed together then blow dry and smooth with flat iron. 

  

for MEDIUM hair I suggest using Mizani butter treat..for a  leave in product and styling aid use

Redken Sleek Obidence. Its great to smoothing ends inbetween shampoos!

 

for COURSE hair I suggest using Mizani Coconut Souffle ..also Mizsani Silkening and Curling Wax is a great leave stying aid  for extra smoothing on edges and in betweeen shampooing(also excellent for hair that is color treated)

 

for extra hold - any of Redken sprays of Mizani hairsprays are good for keeping your style in place.

 

Mizani Shyne- is an awesome bodifying sheen spray for extra moisture in between shampooing..

 

Finally, remember to keep your hair trimmed regularly.  Healthy hair and split ends do not work together.  It may be painful to start trimming your hair regularly as it may seem as though you are losing length but I promise you that if you keep it up, you’ll actually will have more length in the long term.

•  Start with wet hair and apply Redken Detangling Cream, a leave in conditioner. Then mix a nickel size amount of Redken Align and Redken Glass in the palm of your hand. Applying Align and Glass will provide frizz control and will smooth hair straight.  

 

•  Then blow dry straight using a medium round brush or a paddle brush. The FHI blow dryer is great to get hair completely dry, straight, and smooth in no time!

 

•  Remember,before you flat iron spray Redken Iron Silk onto small sections.. This will give lots of shine and hold to the style. If you still need to smooth hair around the face, apply Redken Sleek Obedience. 

 

•  The FHI platform iron is great for getting close to scalp and smoothing.  Using Sleek Obedience along with the flat iron to pull hair around ears straight with less curve to give your style a more angled and sleek look!

 

•   To finish, Redken Workforce 09 will keep hair in place and will keep hair moveable.

•  Start with wet hair and apply Redken Blown Away 09. Blown Away is a heat protector with medium control that helps with smoothing and frizz control  OR you can use Redken Straight 05. It gives mild control and is also a heat protector which helps maintain frizz control.

 

•  Use a medium round brush to blow dry straight.

 

•  Before flat ironing hair use Redken Iron Silk 07. Iron Silk is a heat protector /shine and is great to use if your hair is curly and or dry. For a stronger hold, Redken Spray Starch is fabulous!

 

•  Spray a small amount of either product on small sections before you flat iron your hair. The FHI 1" or the smaller FHI Platform iron is great for styling and protecting your hair all at same time         

 

•  To finish apply Redken Forceful 23 all over.  If you would like your hair to have a more edgy look, Redken Wool Shake can make it happen! Spray and move fingers through hair to style.
