Why does hair color fade?

"Because of UV exposure and free radicals…UV exposure causes free radicals to interact with pollutants and water which causes structural changes in the keratin of the hair. Even the lights indoors can cause hair color to fade!"

How does Pureology counteract hair color fading? 

"All pureology products contain high concentrations of anti-oxidants that counteract free radicals . They also contain  exclusive anti-fade complex which ensures that the color stays vibrate and true. We also do not have sulfates in any of our products. Sulfates are surfactants, or lathering agents. Typically, they contain high amounts of salts that strip hair color. What most people don’t realize is that the“color safe” shampoo they currently use actually contains ingredients like sulfates ,that damage their hair color .. "
